Commenting on this year's newly introduced awards, Dr Kevin Robinson, Head of the Judging Panel, explained: "Just as companies need to adapt in a constantly evolving industry, so too do the Awards. The participants themselves primarily drove the concept of introducing the two new categories; they were keen to see an award for some of the early-stage collaborations that take place during the drug manufacturing process. As such, it seemed to make perfect sense to add the Most Effective Drug Discovery/Development Programme category. Looking at effective planning and project management, I can see this becoming a popular award and we were deluged with excellent submissions.

We're taking a close look at the front end of the innovation process. And, ultimately, beyond all the technology, machinery and equipment, outsourcing is about human beings — the relationships and collaborations that are formed to implement contracts and projects all come down to people. They're the most valuable assets in any company and we felt that it was important to celebrate the achievements of some — or more accurately, one — of those individuals — with the inaugural Outsourcing Executive of the Year award."

Described by Steffen Bira, Head of Sales and Business Development at Solvias as a "well organized and inspiring event," and by Elena Sgaravatti, General Manager, IRB, as "a truly great experience," she congratulated the organizers on their outstanding efforts and "for the introductions to so many new interesting contacts."
