Dr Kevin Robinson
Head of the Judging Panel

As Head Judge of both the NBTA and the European Outsourcing Awards (EOA) judging panels, Kevin has a wealth of experience in this area. He has a PhD in molecular biology and a strong educational background in the life sciences sector. A veteran publishing professional with 15+ years of editorial, layout and production experience in B2B and contract publishing. Kevin is responsible for the editorial content, direction and integrity of the products in the Via Media UK portfolio of publications and events, and acts as the senior editor on both Nutraceutical Business & Technology (NBT) and Pure Health Magazine (PHM).
 
 
Dr Rolf Lambert has spent the last 25 years working in the pharmaceutical industry for different contract manufacturing companies. He has held the position of sales and marketing director with the R.P.Scherer (now Catalent) subsidiary, Backnang /Germany. Later on he joined to SwissCaps AG, Kirchberg /Switzerland as Senior Vice President, sales and marketing; followed by a position as sales and marketing director in the Haupt Pharma Group in Germany and Switzerland. His current position is managing director of the Dr. Rolf Lambert Pharma-Consulting GmbH with active product development for international clients (representing Kemin Health in Central Europe).
 
 
Makarand Jawadekar

Makarand Jawadekar, PhD, is currently a Freelance Consultant, serving on various Scientific and Management Advisory Boards including that for Abbott Laboratories in the US and other multinational companies. Previously he worked at Pfizer Inc for 28 + years. His last position at Pfizer was a Director, Portfolio management & performance, a part of the World Wide Businesses group within Pfizer Inc. in New London, Connecticut. He was involved in looking at various R&D benchmarking metrics for speed, quality & costs, with a goal of enhancing Pharmaceutical R&D productivity. Mak also advises the R&D business on system solution approaches and best practices. Previously, Mak was responsible for the "Drug Delivery Technology Assessment" function, and managed strategic-level decisions on external alliances, collaborations, and partnerships as well as due diligence activities, in conjunction with licensing & development groups, including those with external providers of drug delivery system companies. His extensive previous experience includes formulations/drug delivery R&D, clinical manufacturing operations and managing "Strategic Outsourcing" of drug product development activities. His PhD (Pharmaceutics) is from the University of Minnesota (1982). In February 2011, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate (D.Sc.) by the DYP University in Mumbai.

 
 
Corrine Lawrence
Corrine Lawrence, has been the Editor of Pharma for 18 months and was previously Associate Editor at an international publishing company where she worked on a portfolio of B2B life sciences magazines for 11 years. As Editor, she is responsible for Pharma’s editorial content, as well as sourcing and maintaining material for the publication’s website and social media. Corrine holds a BA(Hons) degree in English Literature and Religious Studies, and a PGCE is secondary education.
 
 
Liselotte Larsson, PhD, has been responsible for marketing and sales at Novozymes Biopharma AB and it's predecessors since 1996. Dr Larsson is a member of the senior management team of Novozymes Biopharma and involved in the strategic issues of the company management as well as the practical day-to-day work, including technology transfer and contract arrangements.The business of Novozymes Biopharma AB is focused on contract manufacturing of biological APIs. Prior to her employment with Novozymes Biopharma, Dr Larsson has been working for The Swedish Technical Attachés and for Swedish environmental authorities. Dr Larsson gained her PhD in Biotechnology at Lund University, Sweden and added marketing to her educational background after joining the company.

 
 
Wes Wheeler
Wes Wheeler, Chief Executive Officer, Marken Ltd, is a member of Pharma’s Editorial Advisory Board and has more than 32 years of professional experience in operations, sales, marketing, strategy, drug development, supply chain, manufacturing, engineering and M&A. Specifically, Wes has spent 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, 10 of which he has been President and/or CEO at Patheon, Valeant Pharmaceuticals and DSM Pharmaceuticals, where he ran the company’s pharmaceutical contract manufacturing subsidiary. Wes specializes in P&L management, operations and operational turnarounds, drug development, marketing, sales management, M&A, supply chain, procurement, lean six sigma, working in foreign markets and building strong teams.

 
 
Jim Miller

Jim Miller, Founder and President, PharmSource Information Services, is a pre-eminent expert in bio/pharmaceutical outsourcing. Jim established and presides over the pharmaceutical outsourcing industry's principal information database, PharmSource.com. He is editor and publisher of the monthly online newsletter, Bio/Pharmaceutical Outsourcing Report, as well as editor and publisher of the PharmSource.com online database of bio/pharma contract service providers. Jim serves as an editorial advisory board member for Advanstar Communication's Pharmaceutical Technology and BioPharm magazines. In addition, he writes regular columns on outsourcing for numerous trade magazines. Jim formerly was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Circa Pharmaceuticals, Inc, a solid dose manufacturer, and President of St. Anthony Publishing, a provider of database information services for the health care industry, prior to that. He holds an MBA degree from Stanford University.

 
 
Paul Titley

Paul Titley, MD of R5 Pharmaceuticals Ltd, has more than 30 years of experience in the development of pharmaceuticals. Originally with Wellcome and GlaxoWellcome, he later went into the contract sector with Quintiles and then Encap (General Manager). He specializes in process development and validation and has lectured on these subjects since 1983. He set up R5 in 2006 as a new contract pharmaceutical development company based at BioCity, Nottingham, UK to develop and manufacture clinical materials including tablets, capsules and injectables from its new facilities. The company was acquired in 2010 by Aesica Pharmaceuticals, one of the worlds largest CMOs. Aesica is based in Newcastle, UK and 'R5' remains the name of the formulation development services of Aesica.

 
 
Faiz Kermani

Dr Faiz Kermani is President of the Global Health Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit healthcare charity to improve educational resources and training for healthcare professionals in developing countries. He has worked in pharmaceutical R&D, clinical trials, pricing and reimbursement, marketing and medical communications. He holds a PhD in Immunopharmacology from St Thomas'
Hospital, University of London.

Abdul Basit

Abdul Basit is Professor of Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy, University of London. He read Pharmacy at the University of Bath in 1993 and received his PhD from the School of Pharmacy, University of London in 1999. Abdul’s research sits at the interface between pharmaceutical science and gastroenterology and is focused on oral delivery. Abdul leads a large and multi-disciplinary research group of 12 PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. He has published extensively and has a number of papers, book chapters and patents to his name. Dr Basit sits on the scientific advisory board of pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and is on the editorial board of scientific journals. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and is a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry. In recognition of his research achievements Abdul was the recipient of the 2004 Young Investigator Award in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). He is the only scientist based outside of North America to receive this award.

Mark Hammond
Mark Hammond is CEO at Melbourn Scientific Ltd a leading provider of analytical and formulation support for the pharma and biotech industries. Mark became Business Development Director at Melbourn Scientific in 2003 and has been CEO since 2009. He works with global clients who wish to outsource projects to ensure that their expectations are met. Since graduating from Anglia Ruskin University he has gained experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries working for Applied Biosystems, Varian and Shimadzu.
